Does size matter? The answer could be subjective. Luxembourg, one of the smallest nations in the world, puts up a stupendous pavilion at the Expo 2020. And it could make everyone shout ‘size doesn’t matter.’
Resourceful Luxembourg
Luxembourg, the world’s only remaining sovereign, is a developed nation. Burj Khalifa’s some of the glass and steel was produced in this small European nation. The high-income market economy boasts the nation’s openness and dynamism through its pavilion at the Expo 2020 aptly named ‘Resourceful Luxembourg.’
The Luxembourg pavilion showcases human, technical, industrial, natural, and financial resources through five sub-themes and its plan to build a sustainable future for all.
Pavilion Tidbits
- Questions & Fun facts about the European nation are displayed on the screens to entertain the visitors while they are waiting in queues. It keeps the visitors excited and entertained.
- Displayed on a massive screen, Grand Duke Henri, head of the state of Luxembourg welcomes everyone to the pavilion.
- Visitors now explore Luxembourg through four sub-themes: ‘Diversity’ – the Expat stories, ‘Connecting’ – the nation’s digital strategy, ‘Sustainable’ – the green initiatives, ‘Enterprising’ – the advancements in science and telecom, and ‘Beauty’
- It also displays a seven-minute video that showcases the nation’s satellite and space projects.
Remembering ‘Schueberfouer’
Schueberfouer, the traditional annual funfair held at Luxembourg’s Glacis square dates back to the 13th century. To pay an ode to Schueberfouer, the Luxembourg pavilion has a giant 21 metres slide, the first-ever in the history of the World Expo.
The pavilion’s open-air atrium has a replica of the nation’s forest. As this is the last zone to visit at the pavilion, the visitors can exit the pavilion by taking the metal-based transparent slide.
Don’t say excuses and take the awesome slide to slide out of the pavilion.
