Not all men and women are happy with their features, some want chiseled jaws and other smaller nose. There are many parts of the face that women would like to change, but this article is intended for those with large or long noses.
There is no doubt that you spent long hours in front of the mirror contemplating the shape of your nose, wanting to reduce its size or reduce its length. Fortunately, there are some makeup tricks that may help make your nose appear smaller and slimmer. Your dream will come true thanks to some of the makeup tools most commonly used by women, such as concealer, bronzer, blush, and foundation. Here are 7 makeup tricks to reduce the size of the nose :
1. Use the contouring technique for smaller nose
Did you know that reality TV star Kim Kardashian uses contouring or face sculpting to make her nose look smaller? You may not have noticed that she had some problems with the appearance of her nose. Before you start contouring, create a base by applying your favorite foundation and concealer.
When applying your daily makeup, use the Kim Kardashian-style face contour to balance out the look. Foundation or matte foundation two shades are darker than your skin tone.
- Apply a dark contouring or matte vendition two shades darker than your skin tone, starting from the area between the eyebrows and down to the sides of the nose. This trick will make it appear thinner and smaller than it is. Apply it also on the sides of the forehead and chin, and on the apples of the cheeks and crease of the eyes.
- Then apply light contouring or concealer in the center of the forehead, down the bridge of the nose, in the area under the eyes, under the cheekbones, on the crevice of the upper lip and in the center of the chin.
- Blend the darker color first with the Blending Brush, followed by the lighter color.
You can help reshape the look of your nose with a bright highlight. Using a creamy highlighter that isn’t too shimmery, draw a line directly down the center of your nose, then blend out with your fingertip. Try using the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Longwear Highlighter Shaping Sticks to achieve your ideal illumination. Available in two hues, pick the shade that best suits your skin tone.
2. Use an ample amount of blush
You thought blush is just to enhance the apple of cheeks? No, a simple blush can change the whole beauty game and make you appear fabulous! Take a blush closer to your skin tone, that means something that is more natural. Define your cheeks by applying the blush. Don’t forget to also put the product on the hollow of your cheekbones. All in all, the focus will remain on the apples of your face and not the nose. Apply a generous amount of blush on two cheeks to attract attention towards them, and no one will notice that you have a problem with your nose. But be careful not to overdo it, so you don’t look like a clown.
3. Use bronzer in certain areas for smaller nose
The right application of bronzer can hide away the parts of the nose that you are not comfortable with and make you look amazing. Take an angular brush and try applying the bronzer in a way on your nose that it makes the tip look sharp and the bridge of the nose more angular. You can also try applying a slight stroke in the centre if the length of your nose is what that bothers you. This is where to apply bronzer to your face, in order to reduce your nose. The most important thing is that you should know that bronzer should not be applied to your nose because this step will highlight it and highlight its flaws.
4. Apply a final touch of powder
Matte makeup is the key to concealing facial imperfections, especially the nose area! Therefore, we recommend that you resort to loose powder when you are done with your make-up, that is, after applying the base polish and cushioning. It is a safe step that will rid you of the face.
Why stop at contouring your nose? The best way to create balance is to use the same products and colors to shade other spots. Start by contouring your forehead and cheekbones. Follow with an illuminator, applying it above your cheekbones and cupid’s bow to help give your complexion a radiant glow.
5. Apply glitter
While you should avoid the bright face, the good news is that your lips can be luminous and shiny. It is permissible to use glossy gloss or glossy lipstick, but in a smart way by using neutral colors such as beige and nude.
6. Focus on eyeliner and mascara to make nose look smaller
Make your eyes the center of attention, by highlighting them and taking your eyes off your nose, by manipulating eyeliner. And don’t forget to apply more mascara for a perfect look.
Without shaping the brows, no makeup ritual can be considered complete. The eyebrows help in defining the complete look, making you appear more attractive. To make your nose smaller and slimmer, the brows have a major role to play. Just by drawing it slightly more towards the centre, you can create an illusion of a smaller nose. Take your usual eyebrow pencil, preferably the light brown one and slightly draw strokes towards the nose. This will automatically make the nose look more balanced and proportionate.
7. Do not wear strong eye makeup
Many people think that to hide prominent nose imperfections, strong or stark eye makeup, such as colored eyeliner or dark shades, must be used, and this is a fatal mistake. All you need is a natural look, coupled with cat-eye makeup, and several layers of mascara.
How to make your nose look thick, if you want?
If you’re in search of nose slimming tricks and tips, it’s probably hard to imagine that there are people out there actually trying to make the bridge of their nose appear thicker—but it totally happens! If you want your nose to look more substantial, all it takes is making a simple adjustment to the aforementioned steps. Here’s what to do: Place the lines of your contour further apart and fill in the space in-between with highlighter. The larger the highlighted space, the wider your nose will seem.
How to make your nose look straighter?
The steps for achieving a straighter look are, again, similar to the ones used to slim the look of your nose. The major difference is that instead of drawing lines that follow the shape of your nose, you’ll want to draw two straight lines that ignore your nose’s actual shape. For your highlight, stick with a reflective illuminator that will draw attention (and light) away from the uneven shape of your nose.
How to make your nose look shorter?
This might sound crazy, but hear us out: You can shorten the look of your nose with a little contour powder. Use a concealer brush to place the powder on the tip of your nose, going around the curves of your nostrils. Darkening the end of your nose can help visually raise the tip for a shorter appearance. To make your nose look narrower, bring your brows in closer to your nose; it’s crazy how instantly and effectively this will make your nose look slimmer. In the image below we’ve digitally shaved off the inner part of my brows to show you the difference.
How to make your nose look shorter?
On the flipside, if you’d like your nose to look longer, that’s possible, too. Instead of darkening the tip of your nose, add a highlight. Try a powder with a pretty shimmer finish, like the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator. With a blending brush, dust the powder onto your nose as if punctuating its tip.
If you find that the end of your nose is slightly larger or rounder, skip the highlighter all the way down your nose and the trend of applying highlighter to the very end of your nose. Instead use a light shimmering bronzer, like the golden tan shade, Tahiti, from the Golden Sands 3D Highlighter palette is a good choice and apply it just above the center of the nose. This will draw the attention to the most slender area of your nose. They have digitally enhanced my nose in the images below to look slightly wider at the bottom, so you can see how a little highlight in the right place goes a long way.
How to hide a small nose bump?
After contouring, add a little matte bronzer on the bump – even though there will be a slight shadow there, it will instantly give the illusion that the nose is much straighter. Then add a little highlight on the very tip of your nose to distract attention away from the bump. Or, if you feel so lazy on doing all these, you can try this tip: To take attention away from the nose, draw attention to your eyes. Make your eyes look bigger with liner, statement eyeshadow or a great pair of lashes.
