The UAE Professional Association held its regular general meeting No. 1 of 2020, Thursday evening, through visual communication technology. Chaired by Abdullah Nasser Al-Junaibi, and attended by members of the Association’s Board of Directors and representatives of the 14 professional clubs.
Al-Junaibi opened the meeting with a welcoming speech in which he stressed his happiness at the imminent launch of the new sports season 2020-2021, and the return of life to the stadiums of Emirati clubs, whether through training or preparations for the tournaments that will start next September.
He said: “Returning to the practice of sporting activity would not have been possible without the wisdom of our wise leadership, as the UAE was a forerunner in controlling the new Corona pandemic (Covid 19) and limiting its spread, through plans and precautionary measures, and provided all the capabilities and expertise to overcome the crisis.”
The President of the UAE Professional League, in his name and on behalf of the association’s members and professional clubs, renewed loyalty to the leadership of the UAE, and an emphasis on working to preserve the safety of the UAE people and residents on its land.
He said, “We are now facing a new challenge, the start of the new season, passion for matches, fun and excitement in the green rectangle and the chants of the stands, but we must continue to apply precautionary measures to ensure the provision of health and safety for all members of the professional system, and we must praise the efforts of the national authorities, the Ministry of Health and the line Our first defense is to limit the spread of this epidemic and follow the best standards, as well as professional clubs on their commitment and eagerness to follow the protocol adopted in this aspect, hand in hand, we will overcome this exceptional crisis, our role will return more beautiful, will return stronger. “
After that, three members were appointed to review the minutes of the meeting, namely: Khamis Issa Al Mazrouei, representative of Al Dhafra Club, Nasser Ibrahim Al Dhafri, representative of Ajman Club, and Hamid Yousef, representative of Al Wasl Club, followed by ratification of the minutes of the previous General Assembly meeting, and then starting voting on proposals for amendments to the Articles of Association. The “general” adopted the proposed amendments.
The professional general meeting continued to review the Association’s activity report and the strategic plan, followed by the approval of the financial statements and the budget for the 2019-2020 sports season, as the final account presentation was approved in September of each year at the executive directors meeting.
Then the work of the General Assembly moved to the clause of adopting the mechanism of distributing the revenues of the League to the member clubs for the seasons 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, as the proposal for the mechanism of distributions for the 2019-2020 season, submitted by the clubs, was approved according to the approved percentages for the period preceding the decision not to complete the two league competitions. And the U-21 League / Round 19 /, then distribute the remainder equally to all clubs, and keep the mechanism approved for the distributions of the Arab Super Gulf Cup and the Arabian Gulf Cup competitions due to the completion of the two competitions.
In the same context, the Professional League presented two proposals for a club distribution mechanism for the 2020-2021 season, with a new system aimed at developing competitions by supporting and motivating clubs to increase audience attendance, and to achieve positive results in Asian participations. The first proposal included a fixed prize for the top three in the league championship, and the incentive prizes include: public attendance, Asian participation in addition to the distribution of percentages according to the following: 35% equally among all clubs, and 65% according to the order in professional tournaments except for the Arabian Super Cup. The prize is fixed at 1,000,000.00 dirhams for the champion and 500,000.00 for the runner-up.
As for the second proposal, it includes motivational prizes and includes: public attendance and Asian participation in addition to the distribution of percentages according to the following: 35% equally among all clubs, and 65% according to order in professional tournaments except for the Arabian Super Gulf Cup, which is a fixed prize of 1,000,000.00 for the champion. And 500,000,00 for the runner-up.
In this regard, the UAE Professional League will send the proposals of the distribution mechanism to the clubs again, as the clubs will have a week to continue studying the proposals and respond by choosing one of them.
