Motorists were urged to take caution as fog covered many parts of the country on Sunday morning, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM has also called on drivers and pedestrians to take all necessary precautions when on roads due to blowing dust and sand causing poor horizontal visibility.
“Dusty and partly cloudy weather for today with a probability of some convective clouds formation eastwards by afternoon,” NCM said.
An increase in temperatures is expected today. The maximum temperature during the day is expected to hover around 44 – 48 °C along internal areas, 38 – 43 °C along the coast and 34 – 39 °C in the mountains.
The lowest temperature recorded over the country today morning was 22.9 °C in Raknah at 5am.
It will get humid during the night and Monday morning over some coastal and internal areas especially northwards with the probability of fog or mist formation.
The maximum humidity would be 70 to 90 per cent across coastal, 65 to 85 per cent in interior regions and between 40 to 60 per cent in the mountains
Light to moderate winds , northward and moderate to fresh westward over the sea, will cause blowing dust and sand.
The sea will be moderate to rough especially westward in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea.
