The Mohammed bin Zayed Council for Future Generations, in its third session held under the slogan “New Reality, New Horizons”, hosted His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Managing Director and CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company “ADNOC”, In a dialogue session with a group of Emirati men and women from various sectors.
The session, titled “Persistence, determination and perseverance … exceptional of giving”, included a set of questions, through which His Excellency shared the lessons he had learned from the wisdom and vision of the wise leadership in the country. His Excellency also shared his ideas and vision on creating the future and consolidating the culture of innovation and motivating youth, and extensive experience. Acquired in the field of management and change-making in government work and various sectors.
The session began with a question to His Excellency about the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the global economy, and how ADNOC deals with it as the managing director and CEO of the company.
His Highness answered by telling the story of one of his meetings with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, where His Excellency reviewed in his response the approach and directions of His Highness in dealing with the pandemic.
He said .. “The vision and wisdom of my master His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan enabled us at ADNOC to face the unprecedented circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, and thanks to his directives, we were able to preserve the health and safety of our human cadres and continue our operations without interruption and through the flexibility we gained thanks to the qualitative shift that was ordered.” His Highness, by implementing them several years ago, we were able to achieve excellent and exceptional results, especially if we take into account the circumstances that the world was going through last year due to the pandemic.
His Excellency also shared with the attendees the lessons he learned from the wisdom and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. He said .. “His Highness’s proposal is characterized by calmness, confidence, accurate vision, and a long-term view. It is primarily a humanitarian proposal that confronts challenges with boldness and strength, and deals with them realistically. The directives of His Highness focused on five axes: ensuring the health and safety of the human being and the human cadres, and the continuity of business and production for what It has a direct impact on the nation’s economy, focusing on raising efficiency and upgrading performance, and contributing to supporting the local economy through project continuity, enhancing local added value, and accelerating and introducing additional value creation projects through commercial opportunities and attracting foreign investments. “
His Excellency added, “The most important lessons I learned from the vision and wisdom of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed are steadfastness in the face of adversity and challenges and dealing with them with confidence and courage, focusing on people first in various circumstances, accepting positive change and not standing in the way of change, development and modernization, and armament with flexibility and sophistication. With patience and insistence on perseverance, diligence and hard work, as well as expanding the horizons of thinking and imagining the unimaginable as there is no impossible thing under the umbrella of wise leadership.
His Excellency gave a number of examples of imagining the unimaginable, saying .. “The prevailing view of the UAE was that it was an oil country, and some were surprised at why it had moved towards developing capabilities in the field of renewable energy, but for us, this was a natural thing as we are pioneers in the field of energy. Through oil and gas, that is why we worked through the leadership’s directives to strengthen this leadership in new areas such as: renewable energy, and peaceful nuclear energy. The same example can also apply to the surprise of some of the training, preparation and dispatch of the first Emirati astronaut, Hazza Al Mansouri, to the space station. International, noting that this was a moment of pride for the nation, and he also pointed to the success of the Hope Probe in reaching the orbit of Mars as another example of not recognizing the impossible and expanding horizons of thinking, as well as the establishment and launch of the “Mohammed Bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence”In a completely new field, this provides an example of raising the ceiling of ambitions and preparing for the future. “
In a question about how to reconcile a set of tasks and responsibilities and manage them successfully, His Excellency referred to the importance of the work team in success and excellence in the world of business, companies and management, as he said .. “There is no doubt that success in the world of business, companies and management is always thanks to the work team and not the individual or the responsible.

His Excellency explained that there are some fields such as culture, literature, arts and some academic and scientific research projects, in which the greatest role is for innovation and individual effort, but in the world of business, companies and management, the success is for the work team.
He added, “The distinguished official or administrator realizes that his success is a result of the success of his work team, so he must be keen to focus on quality and not number in building the work team, and invest in training and developing his personnel, providing them with information, resources, the possibility of communication, and enabling them to maneuver, flexibility, and rapid and immediate response.” Giving the team cadres, especially the youth, duties and responsibilities that put them at the forefront and in the forefront to increase their self-confidence and to know the difference between theoretical planning in the office and real life and achieving tangible results on the ground, and they must also be given a mandate with the necessary powers to face and assume responsibilities and create a balance between the concept of powers and the concept of responsibility As well as implanting the principle of not being afraid of mistakes, discovering them quickly, correcting them, and learning from them.
In the conclusion of his speech, His Excellency sent a set of advice to future generations, urging them to perform outstandingly and sincerely at work, and to be bold and courageous to create change and focus on achievement and achieving goals.
He said, “I advise young people never to accept normal or average performance, to be bold and courageous, and to take risks, because caution does not help to achieve ambitions. Also, interest and passion for achievement and achievement of results and not wasting time thinking about effort, fatigue and difficulties along the way only, but focusing on the final goal and moving towards it.” I also remind them that the humble performers are the ones who criticize others, while the distinguished ones are the ones who look to successful individuals, learn from them, and aspire to achieve new successes that no one has preceded.
He added, “When setting your goals, do not reduce them, but rather you must double them.” His Excellency called on future generations to implement the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to work to multiply efforts by no less than ten times, explaining That one of the most important qualities of success is being humble, positive, and open to accepting new ideas that may seem strange at first glance.
