As per the announcement by The Miss Universe Organisation and Yugen Events, Dubai is set to host the first-ever Miss Universe UAE. It will be held on November 7 at La Perle in Al Habtoor City.
The Miss Universe UAE winner will undergo preparation for the global pageant by the members of the council. The members appointment is done by The Miss Universe Organisation UAE.
Although the formal Top 30 finalists are yet to be announced on November 4th, some of the contestants include:
- Marwa, 23, from Sharjah
- Dilnoza, 23, from Downtown Dubai
- Sara, 25, from Silicon Oasis, Dubai
- Alma, 24, from Dubai Marina
- Jasmin, 22, from Al Reem Island, Dubai
These Top 30 finalists will be whittled down to a list of Top 15 on November 5th. The winner will be announced on November 7.
The finals will be held on November 7, all 30 finalists would be competing in several pageant activities. Activities such as photoshoot, runway challenges, commercial shoots, preliminary activewear, evening gown and close door panel interview were held between October 20 and October 30.
The official winner will advance to the international stage. The 70th edition of the Miss Universe International stage, held in Israel in December.
The members of the Miss Universe UAE council are
- Josh Yugen, President and National Director, and the Founder and CEO of Yugen Group and XPEDITION Magazine,
- Alaf Meky, Head of Charities and Philanthropy,
- Zel Ali, Head of Compassion and Empowerment,
- Sharihan Al Mashary, Head of Communications and the first-ever female Emirati Hotel GM in the UAE
- Maggie Wilson, Creative Consultant and Furne Amato, Head of Creatives, Fashion and Design.
Sharihan Al Mashary very eloquently said, “Miss Universe UAE is going to be extremely special to us because it is a representation of success, connected with service and significance”. “And, the individual who will represent UAE at the Miss Universe, will also represent the service and the significance of the country in the past 50 years, and in the next 50 years as well.”, she continued.
The Swimwear contest has been scrapped from Miss Universe UAE. Why was this action taken , you may ask? Well according to Sharihan Al Mashary, the identity of a woman is beyond the parameters of her sculpture. This is why the UAE committee made this change to make a difference and do something that nobody in 70 years of Miss Universe history has done.
Miss Universe is the world’s biggest annual beauty pageant. An audience of around 500 million people will witness the crowning of the next Miss Universe.
The Miss Universe 2020 edition was hosted in Florida, US in May this year. Andrea Meza of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2020 and is the current title holder. Participants from 74 countries and territories were a part of the 69th edition of the event.
