Sharjah entertainment destinations and hotels are now open after the completion of a sterilization and disinfection drive in the Emirate. The announcement from ‘The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq)’ include Al Qasba, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Noor Island, The Flag Island, Heart of Sharjah, Mleiha Archaeological & Ecotourism Project, Khorfakkan Beach, Maraya Art Centre and 1971-Design Space.
These announcement came along with a number of safety measures from the authority while visiting these places. The guests must abide by such safety measures set by the UAE government such as social distancing (maintaining two meters physical distance) and wearing a face mask. Temperature will be monitored on every visitors in these areas. While those above 60 and under 12 will be denied entry with the exception of emergency places such as hospitality destinations. Cafeterias and restaurants will operate at 30 per cent capacity with disposable cutlery.
The Chedi Al Bait and three Sharjah Collection properties – Al Badayer Retreat, Al Faya Retreat and Kingfisher Retreat – have also opened its doors allowing staycations for those looking for a quick getaway.
Same UAE penalties introduced on May 19 2020 will be effective through these changes. 3,000 dirhams will be charged for not wearing mask when travelling in a car with more than three people and individuals who do not maintain social distancing. Employees who do not wear masks at work will be fined 500 dirhams.
The chief operating officer of Shurooq, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, stressed the significance of ensuring the safety and well-being of guests come first.
“As we embark on the reopening phase of our leisure destinations, as well as welcoming our guests across our prime hospitality properties, the health and safety of our guests and staff remain paramount, ” he said. “We are therefore working closely with the government authorities to ensure that the highest standards of hygiene are maintained, and that all recommended precautionary and preventive measures are in place for our guests to enjoy a well-rounded destination experience”, Shurooq has a single-minded approach in enforcing these protocols,” we expect our guests to fully co-operate and take individual responsibility for their own safety and well-being while visiting all our destinations. We look forward to welcoming them again.”
