The Sharjah Child Friendly Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah launched the “Sharjah Child-Friendly Academy”, an information platform that aims to support the institutional and community sectors and spread awareness and knowledge resources for specialized cadres and society in general about everything related to the care and development of children and youth.
The establishment of the Academy came with the aim of collecting the training programs and workshops provided by the office continuously since its establishment in 2016 in coordination and cooperation with the strategic partners and will contribute to the establishment of an integrated database that collects the office’s training workshops and programs and its participants under one umbrella, which will benefit in organizing and simplifying the procedures followed when providing workshops and training to institutions Concerned.
The Academy will provide a comprehensive platform for all publications of the awareness office, specialized knowledge bags and scientific materials for community educational campaigns in one place on the social media platforms “YouTube”, “Instagram”, “Facebook”, “Twitter”, “WhatsApp” and “Telegram” / @ SCFOAcademy / Recordings of the workshops and training courses will also be published on the “YouTube” and “Telegram” applications free of charge for all those interested in attending the workshops and benefiting from them.
Dr. Hessa Khalfan Al-Ghazal, Executive Director of Sharjah Child-Friendly Office, said that the establishment of the academy is an important step through which we consolidate the office’s strategy to support and enhance the reality of children and adolescents in the Emirate of Sharjah in a sustainable manner. The specialized cadres in all concerned institutions are based on this from the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.
She indicated that the Academy seeks to raise community awareness in Sharjah and institutionalize children’s affairs and rights at all levels and in various fields and disciplines, which will contribute to raising the standards of quality of life for children and families in general in the emirate. In addition, the workshops and training programs that the Academy will offer will not be limited to parents and educational staff. And health, but we were keen to make it available in an open and free way for everyone who wants to benefit from its content throughout the country and the Arab region.
The Academy’s first programs target medical and non-medical personnel working in the health field in specialized courses for hospitals and child-friendly health centers. It is also accompanied by the launch of a knowledge portfolio concerned with promoting the culture of breastfeeding among mothers, introducing them to its benefits and how to provide support and guidance to them before and after childbirth.
In preparation for the reception of the new academic year, the Academy will offer a specialized training program for educational and school cadres in cooperation with the Sharjah Education Council, the Sharjah Special Education Authority and the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF” that includes several workshops on mechanisms for developing action plans and measurable goals in schools and nurseries registered under the “Friendly Schools and Nurseries” project.
