His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Forum for Promoting Peace, held a virtual consultative and coordination meeting today with His Excellency Sam Brown Buck, Ambassador of Religious Freedom at the US State Department.
The meeting comes within the framework of the distinguished relations between the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies and the US State Department represented by the Office of the Commissioner for Religious Freedom in the World.
The meeting dealt with coordination on a group of joint projects in the fields of religious freedoms and protection of the rights of religious minorities, the initiative of the Abrahamic religions, and the role of African scholars in promoting peace, especially in the African Sahel region .. In this context, His Excellency Sam Brown presented to His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayh the vision of the Ministry Foreign Ministry of Religious Freedom in Africa to benefit from His Excellency before marketing this vision to regional institutions such as the African Union and others.
It was also agreed to continue joint work and coordination in support of the programs of the Abrahamic Faith Leaders Initiative, which the Forum has participated in since its inception, which aims to advance understanding between the religions of the Abrahamic family and different cultures in a way that enhances the spirit of peace and dialogue.
Ambassador Pak stressed the importance of the New Curiosity Pact initiative as a new platform to highlight the positive role of religious leaders in promoting shared values, and the two parties agreed to hold joint activities in this regard.
With regard to Africa and the Sahel region, the two parties agreed to continue cooperation and coordination in this region through joint conferences and workshops that bring together religious leaders in the region.
The meeting concluded with the strengthening of joint work and permanent coordination between the New Virtue Pact and the US State Department through the Office of the Ambassador Plenipotentiary for Religious Freedom at the US State Department.
