Gorgeous beaches, skyscrapers, and breathtaking night views, UAE has many exquisite attractions you can revel in. You’ll never get tired of them.

But there are rules in UAE you can’t be lethargic about. If violated, you can land in trouble and may have to pay a huge fine to come out of it. We have compiled a list of activities that you must be careful about. It’s not just the UAE police that keeps an eye on these violations, but multiple teams from various departments monitor the situation 24*7.

1) Facemask

The Covid protocols are vehemently followed in UAE. When you’re in public, always wear your face masks. Please don’t ignore it by thinking who’s going to care. But they do.

2) Eating & Chewing in the Metro

Most of us are aware that eating is permitted in the metro station and on platforms but not inside the metro. After all, it should because Dubai is very strict about keeping the metro clean. But many of us are unaware that eating chewing gum in the metro is also banned.  If you have one in your mouth, then spit it out before getting into the metro. And if you are found to violate the rules, then you will attract fines.

3) Political, Religious Discussions on Social Media

One golden rule you must follow while in the UAE is to avoid any political, religious, and racial discussions online or offline.

4) Swearing / The F-word

You’re not allowed to swear or use the F-word in public as they believe it ‘disgraces the honor or the modesty’ of a person. Keep in mind that swearing is punishable by prison as well as fines.

5) Housing

Trespassing is not taken lightly in Dubai. It is punishable with up to 1-year of prison and fines as well. If the  property owner asks you to go, respect their privacy and vacate the place. Sharing accommodation/ properties too are not allowed. Violations would be heavily penalised.

6) Spreading Misinformation

Be it online or offline, do not send/forward any unverified news about the Covid protocols or your personal opinion about the norms in place by the authorities. Respect everyone’s privacy and opinion and stay away from trouble.

7) Public Display of Affection

Despite being cosmopolitan, be careful about your personal conduct. It’s strongly advised to refrain even from any kissing or hugging while in social purview.

8) Picking up Brawls

Again related to public conduct, don’t engage in any loud word wars leave apart physical quarrels. Remember, you are under continuous supervision. Every likelihood, any breach in conduct, you are ought to be penalized.

9) Road and Transport Authority (RTA) Fines

Not only is there a maximum speed limit, but you’ll also be fined if you drive below the minimum speed limit. You’ll also incur black traffic points for some over speed violations. It might lead to blocking your driving license too. Your vehicle must have plates, and you should respect the other vehicles as well as pedestrians. Obey the traffic signals and the traffic policeman. You should strictly follow the parking and over speeding rules. Don’t use mobile phones while driving, and you should always wear seat belts.

Parting Words

I am sure you have received enough insights about being away from legal issues while being in UAE. Enjoy the man-made wonders of the city but stay away from troubles by taking care of the above rules.

And don’t forget to share this post to help others identify these critical aspects to make their stay a happy one.
