The management of the Cairo International Film Festival revealed the details of its 42nd session, which will be held during the month of December.
The festival, headed by the Egyptian producer and screenwriter, Mohamed Hefzy, announced at a press conference held at a hotel in the capital Cairo that the film “The Father” (The Father) will be shown at the opening ceremony, starring the British artist, Anthony Hopkins, actress Olivia Coleman, and actor Rufus Seoul. It is a co-production between the United Kingdom and France.
The movie “The Father” revolves around a man who refuses all the help his daughter offers him as he gets older. As he tries to understand his changing circumstances, he begins to doubt his loved ones, his mind, and even the fabric of his reality.
The Cairo International Film Festival also removed the official poster of its 42nd session.
The festival’s president, Mohamed Hefzy, announced the honors of this session to the Egyptian writer and screenwriter, Wahid Hamed, the Egyptian actress, Mona Zaki , and the British writer and screenwriter, Christopher Hampton.
Hefzy revealed at the press conference that the advisory committee had decided to change the name of the “Faten Hamama Award” to the “Golden Pyramid for Lifetime Achievement Award”, which will be received by Waheed Hamed and Christopher Hampton.
The festival administration affirmed that all festival attendees take the necessary measures and precautions to prevent the emerging “Corona” virus, to maintain their safety, which includes a commitment to social distancing, wearing masks, continuous sterilization, as well as more precautionary measures.
