Expo 2020 opening ceremony on September 30 is gearing up to set the mood for the world’s greatest show. Years of planning and preparation is just days away from bedazzling the world.

Expo 2020 is the most diverse in the history of international events. And it promises an awesome as well as inspiring opening ceremony. It is set to highlight the nation’s achievement in bringing together the world to its shore. Let’s see what all it has to offer all of us.

Where will the ceremony take place?

As the anticipation around the opening ceremony is soaring, organizers gave a sneak peek, which added fuel to the excitement. The ceremony will occur at the heart of Expo 2020, Al Wasl Plaza. Its design is based on a 3000-year old archaeological masterpiece found at Saruq Al Hadid. All know that the discovery of the site was done by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum ( Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai). Infact, Al Wasl Square has the name of old Dubai that symbolises its role in linking people and culture since the ancient times.

The Ceremony Line-up

Over 1,000 performers and technical crew from all over the world will adorn the stages of Al Wasl Plaza. Audiences seated at the plaza and virtual viewers will be taken through an incredible journey on the themes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. The ceremony will showcase the deep-rooted values of the UAE along with the vision and purpose of Expo 2020. 

Amna Belhoul, Executive Creative Director, Expo 2020 Dubai, mentioned that the entry section of the ceremony in which the flags of the participating countries enter the plaza will go down in history as an iconic moment, and it’ll set as a reference for all the events to come in the future. 

The one-of-a-kind event will highlight the importance of everyone coming together to cooperate, stand by each other to create a great future for all.

Glittering Stars

The plaza will be bedazzled by the world famous tenor Andera Bocelli and British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding. Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Andra Day, star pianist Lang Lang, four-time Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo are set to grace the ceremony on September 30.

The event will also feature the Emirati singing sensation ‘Fananat Al Arab’ Ahlam Alshamsi. The Trio behind the Expo 2020 official anthem – Hussain Al Jassmi, Mayssa Karaa, and Almas will be there raising the roof.

Prepare to be Dazzled

To give a once-in-a-lifetime experience to the audience, the Al Wasl Plaza will have the largest immersive sound installation and the largest blended video projection installation in the world. The ceremony will be broadcasted Worldwide across multiple channels to share the moments with all.
