The international event will now take place from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, which will allow all participants to bypass the consequences of “Covid-19”, and will enable the World Expo to focus on the common desire to shape new ideas to develop solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time.

We are still facing an accelerating and unprecedented global situation. Over the past weeks, they have made a great effort, both internally and in consultation with the main stakeholders in the United Arab Emirates and internationally, with the aim of reviewing the continuing effects of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic on our plans and preparations to host Expo 2020 Dubai.
They remain committed to organizing an International Expo that sincerely embodies the purpose for which it was founded, which is to be a comprehensive international forum to address common challenges and seek solutions to those challenges in the spirit of international cooperation and solidarity. But this is clearly not the right timing for the event.
Expo plans
The recommendation came in light of the firm commitment of all Expo 2020 Dubai participants, and many participating countries were significantly affected by the “Covid-19” pandemic, and their expression of the need to postpone the opening of the international event for a year, to help them overcome that challenge.
The World Expo brings people together in a spirit of hope and cooperation for a better future, which is what we need now more than ever.
