The world’s greatest show, Expo 2020 is officially open. People around the world enjoyed the opening ceremony from the comfort of their homes and welcomed the beginning of our future together. To commemorate the occasion, the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) announced the issuance of silver coins.
The silver coins will feature the official Expo mascots standing in front of Dubai’s landmark buildings on one side and the nominal value on the other. The UAE’s name is engraved along with the nominal value in both Arabic and English.
Each silver coin weighs 40 grams and the Central Bank has planned to issue 2,020 silver coins in total. These silver coins priced at AED 662 ($180) are available for sale only via the official Expo 2020 stores and the New Zealand Mint’s website. Nowhere else, not even at the Central Bank’s headquarters and branches it’ll be available for sale.
It is to be noted that this is the second commemorative coin announced to honour the world’s greatest show. The first gold and silver commemorative coins were issued by the Central Bank on the occasion of the UAE hosting Expo 2020.
