It’s almost hard to replace south Indian food with anything else. And once we get the craving, then we just want it! By hook or by crook.
Well, if you are getting the same craving while in Dubai, then head on to Ananada Bhavan: an award-winning restaurant that serves fresh, tasty, healthy & pure vegetarian food.
It not only specializes indelectable South Indian dishes but also serves North Indian and Chinese delicacies with equal authenticity. It’s a sure-shot place in Dubai to satisfy your cravings for hot home-cooked desi meals, including breakfast.
The Ambience
Minimalism- that is what the spirit of South India essentially is. Likewise, Ananda Bhavan, too, doesn’t scream fancy. The settings and the tables are embellished minimally to create a home vibe. The moment we enter the restaurant, it feels like we’ve come home.
Food
Along with the South Indian dishes, Ananda Bhavan also offers North Indian and Chinese delicacies. To maintain authenticity, the South Indian dishes are served on banana leaves. These leaves have a therapeutic value. Being enriched with polyphenols: a natural antioxidant that help improve our immunity.
Once you visit Ananda Bhavan’s JLT outlet, then the whiff of authentic food all around will create a nostalgic feel that is hard to ignore.
Must-Try Dishes
All the dishes are flavorsome and appetizing. After all, they are made scratch and without any preservatives. But there are a few you shouldn’t miss when you visit Ananda Bhavan.
Mushroom 65
We started our lunch with a starter. The deep-fried spicy batter combined with the neutral flavor of mushrooms were well cooked. It was crunchy, gave a bite on the outside, and soft, succulent on the inside. Each piece was even and bite-sized. The spring onions and capsicum gave the additional flavors needed.
Paratha and Vegetable Korma
The layered flatbread was fluffy and crispy. The hot steamy white parathas with golden crisp corners on the green banyan leaf is a sight to behold. It comes with vegetable korma on the side. The parathas are soft and instantly melt in your mouth.
Usually, parathas fill ones stomach swiftly. But here at Ananda Bhavan, it was airy, and we had to restrain ourselves in order to try the other menu items.
Ghee Roast Dosa
The fermented, lentil, and rice batter cooked in ghee’s aroma instantly augmented the air around us. It comes with sambar and three chutneys on the side: sweet coconut chutney, zingy mint chutney, and spicy onion chutney. All of them work fine with the ghee dosa chunks, and your taste buds will say thank you.
A Sweet Ending
The traditional South Indian dessert – Payasam shouldn’t be missed. Payasam is the answer to the west’s wet pudding. It is the perfect dessert to end the meal as the boiled milk’s perfect sweetness creates a fantastic aroma combined with pieces of cardamom. It leaves you perfectly satisfied yet wanting more.
Parting Words
All in all, Ananda Bhavan is the perfect place to please your home-cooked cravings. You’ll be leaving with a schedule in mind to visit next time.
