Whether you are already committed to a plant-based lifestyle for the sake of health or for ethical reasons, or are planning to give it a try for a short while, these restaurants are perfect for you.

Here are some restaurants, dishes and deals that you must check out in the UAE:

Vegan cheesecake at Brunch & Cake

The Jumeirah cafe is giving all their dine-in customers the opportunity to experience the goodness of a New York style cheesecake but in vegan form,The chefs here at Brunch and Cake believe that just because you are Vegan does not mean that you have to abstain from eating delicious and heavenly tasting food. The restaurant has a dedicated plant based menu.

Guests will be able to savour dishes like:

  • “scrambled eggs”, made from tofu,
  • vegan protein salad and
  • vegan breakfast burritos
  • Plant based Poke bowl, and more.

Corn fritters at Fuchsia Urban Thai

This Thai restaurant has branches in Barsha Heights and Business Bay in Dubai. Fuchsia offers a specialty starter dish called corn fritters that they swear by. The starter comprises fresh sweetcorn kernels dipped in a seasoned batter with kaffir lime leaves. The fritters are served with spicy and tangy tamarind sauce. Usually priced at Dh33. The restaurant has a widespread vegan menu of around 25 items. Some other specialties include:

One Life Kitchen & Cafe in Dubai Design District is serving its guests plant-based main dishes that have been carefully curated and designed. Diners can choose from their widespread menu. The menu includes the likes of:

  • The Schrute Farm beetroot burger,
  • red Thai curry,
  • Mediterranean vegan meatballs and
  • falafel wrap.

Bite into a plant-based burger at Gourmet Burger Kitchen

This London based restaurant chain is known for its craft burgers. It has slowly but steadily expanded into plant-based sandwiches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It is offering visitors a range of vegan and vegetarian offerings.

The menu features the likes of: the Californian, that features a recently popularized 100% beyond burger patty topped with vegan cheddar, sliced avocado, paprika seasoned onions, harissa mayo and salad. Another delicacy includes the vegetarian Beyond Jalapeno Overload, with a plant-based Beyond Burger patty topped with smoked chilli mayo, chopped jalapenos, green chilli, chilli salsa and natural cheddar (skip this if you want to keep it strictly vegan). There are many more options for Vegans in the Beyond Burgers section of their menu.

 Gourmet Burger Kitchen has branches in Abu Dhabi Mall; and DIFC, Mirdif City Centre and JLT in Dubai.

Enjoy a vegan fine-dining experience at Shanghai Me

Looking for a more upscale vegan meal venue for a fine dine experience? Head on to the Cantonese restaurant- Shanghai Me in DIFC. Shanghai Me is known for its ambience that is reminiscent of “China’s 1930s golden era”.

  • wok tofu with salt and pepper;
  • vegetable spring rolls;
  • salted cucumber with avocado and coriander;

  • wok bok choy served with soy, ginger and garlic; and
  • wok aubergine in chilli bean sauce.

End the night with some delicious creamy vegan ice cream

Nothing comes even remotely close to capping off a meal with a fresh scoop of creamy ice cream. There’s no need for vegans to feel left out as Brooklyn Creamery has a plant-based range of their amazing ice creams.

Made using almond and coconut milk Brooklyn Creamery is offering six dairy-free flavours:

  • chocolate and coconut,
  • Berry 3x,
  • double shot espresso,
  • acai berry banana,
  • French vanilla bean and
  • lotta chocolate
  • Salted Peanut Butter.

Brooklyn Creamery also has vegan fruit pop lollies, available across all locations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah through Deliveroo.

Marks & Spencer also introduced their vegan ice desserts in chocolate and raspberry ripple flavours last year. They also offer plant-based chocolate and vanilla dessert cones.

So Rejoice Vegans, for you no longer have to give up on the finer, more delicious side of the culinary spectrum for the sake of your ethics. You can now enjoy delicacies that will even tempt the mainstream ‘non-vegans’ to try going plant based.
