Data privacy has been a hot tech topic in recent years, and UAE is taking notice of it very closely. Currently, it is an issue for many countries and human rights organizations. This is on account of the increased attempts by companies to harvest and store a massive amount of data about people. There are incidences about misuse of customer details, employee profiles, and other records for fraudulent purposes.
Hence, as a part of ‘Projects of the 50, (UAE’s roadmap for the next 50 years), it has announced a new data law.
According to the Minister of State for Digital Economy, AI, and Remote Working System, the new data takes every single data law on the planet.’ into consideration. Hence, it is a global law to ensure seamless and smooth data transfer across borders.
The law is also of utmost importance as UAE is home to many international organizations; hence localized law is not a solution. This law has the lowest compliance cost, and it will not burden the SMEs and commercial companies.
This first federal law of UAE is prepared in partnership with the technology giants. The new law gives the individual control to determine how their data can be used, stored, and shared. They get the right to be forgotten, the right to access, and the right to information.
Many other projects to boost the economic and political development are in line. They will be unveiled soon by the UAE government.
