Abu Dhabi has finally lifted Covid 19 testing requirements while making an entry from other UAE emirates, including Dubai. They are also exempted from producing a COVID-19 test result from today (Sep 19, 2021). This decision has been taken by Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee owing to a decrease in the covid cases in the emirate. As of now it is only 0.2 percent of the total tests. And more than 80 percent of the population has been vaccinated.
Green pass still needed
With this, there is also an activation of the green pass system to enter a few public places. For this, one must have a Green Pass on AlHosn app. And the fully vaccinated people are needed to take a negative PCR test every 30 days. The unvaccinated residents or those with a medical exemption for vaccination must upload the negative PCR test every week. This requirement is not applied to children below the age of 16 years.
As of now, shopping malls, cinema halls, museums, spas, gyms, a few events, and certain other places in Abu Dhabi need the Green Pass.
The committee further added about the continuous monitoring of events. Citizens are expected to adhere to the precautionary measures needed for public health and safety and sustainable recovery of the nation.
Electronic wristband and home quarantine
In a separate announcement, the committee further mentioned the changes made for people coming from abroad. The arrivals at the airport are no longer required to wear an electronic wristband during home quarantine. Positive cases are, however needed to wear the band.
“The committee has approved continued strict adherence to home quarantine procedures and required testing schedules based on personal responsibility, as well as monitoring by healthcare systems to ensure compliance with precautionary measures. Violators will be reported to the Attorney-General,” they added.
The UAE nations and expats are happy since the decision came out on Saturday afternoon. This will help in smoother travel to those who make daily trips between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
