British Pia Hanske and Emirati Butti Al Nuaimi topped the women’s and men’s competitions in the first-of-its-kind snow run in the Middle East region organized by the Dubai Sports Council and Majid Al Futtaim, a leading company in the development and management of shopping centers, integrated cities and retail establishments. And entertainment in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and its competitions were hosted by the Ski Dubai Hall in Mall of the Emirates within the activities of the “Dubai Snow Sports Week”.
Butti Al-Nuaimi won first place in the race that was held this morning after finishing the run in a time of 17:36 minutes, followed by Mohsen Al Ali, who finished the race in a time of 17:42 minutes, and British George Crowe finished third after finishing the race. With a time of 17:50.
In the women’s category, British Pia Hanske won first place after finishing the race in a time of 21:46 minutes, followed by Finnish Marjana Raki who finished the race in a time of 24:04, and Georgian Diana Jogi Tedz came in third after finishing the race in a time. Capacity 27:10 minutes.
The race competition was attended by His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary-General, and Mohammed Al-Atari, Director of Majid Al Futtaim International Skating Company, in a cold atmosphere that reached a temperature of 4 degrees below zero, during which the contestants from 46 different nationalities enjoyed a unique experience that they did not live Before, especially with running on snow during the summer season, the ice hall in Ski Dubai turned them into a happiness festival pulsing with activity and vitality, and all participants adhered to the precautionary measures and protocols established by the Dubai Sports Council in order to preserve the safety of the contestants.
Women represented 50% of the participants, who were divided into 3 groups, and in each group, all 5 participants from each group were allowed to run in a separate group in order to achieve physical distancing. And in places of dressing, on the racetrack, and even after the end of the race and receiving medals.
The race extended to a distance of 3 kilometers, during which the contestants ran a 1-kilometer track on three laps in the snow, and at the end of the race each participant received a medal for finishing his own race, and the winners of the first places in the race will be honored tomorrow, Saturday.
The snow running race comes within the activities of the “Dubai Snow Sports Week, which was launched by the Council in cooperation with the Mall of the Emirates, which also includes skateboarding activities that start from ten in the morning until two in the afternoon and continue from four in the evening until eight in the evening, and are divided into four categories: Alpine speed and slalom racing, giant slalom racing, and freestyle racing.
