Abu Dhabi police released an official awareness video against fraudsters

Abu Dhabi police released an official video educating people to safeguard their bank account and credit card information from fraudsters. Police warned people against downloading unknown apps and installing. as fraudsters can illegally access the detail up on installing the app.

 
Police warning detailed as: “Do not download unknown apps. Do not allow these apps to access your contacts, photos if asked for permission,”

In a released video on their Twitter account, Abu Dhabi Police have presented to the public how fraudsters can access bank account details from mobile phones and use them to steal money from the person’s bank account.

Increased in the use of smart phone opened new doors to many digital scams. Many people are unaware of the traps in the digital world which gives these fraudsters opportunity to take advantage of them.

Video clip released by the Abu Dhabi police shows a cop interrogating a suspect, who is being held responsible for accessing bank account details and defrauding people.

Up on interrogation, the man confesses of stealing bank account and credit card details from people by gaining access into emails and social media accounts. Using the gained information he stole their money from various bank accounts.

The suspect confessed “I had penetrated the person’s email and social media accounts. I found all bank details, including the secret numbers/ passwords, last bank statement and pictures of credit cards stored on Whatsapp,” to the police.

He explained how he hacked the information sending the victims an application that allowed access into their accounts.

“But the victim easily downloaded any application without checking it. So I played on that!” he said that he illegally took 350,000 dirhams from the victim’s account after obtaining his bank account details.

Police asked people to be vigilant about online fraudsters and informed them not to store their personal information on any social medias.

“Update your personal details regularly with your bank and do not be a victim of fraud,” advised the cops.

They also said to be cautious in these matters and not to be panic. The only way to avoid these is to be informed of the threat and be aware. This video is released by Abu Dhabi police for the people to be more careful by educating them. They are getting good response from the public up on the good will of the police.
