The CEO of Dubai Airports, Paul Griffiths, wishes to have UAE on the UK’s amber list shortly. The UK has positioned the UAE on the country’s red list. The travelers from UAE to the UK would have to go through a compulsory 10-day quarantine after the arrival.
What did the CEO have to say about the Amber list?
Griffiths wants the UAE to stay on the red list before changing its category.
He said to the Dubai Eye’s business break that if not this announcement, then at least the next announcement should have a change in heart. All the flights from the counties on the red list will be received at Terminal 3, Heathrow Airport. They also think they must have direct flights back to Heathrow and other locations in the UK soon.
Currently, the government of the UAE and UK and sharing their information very quickly. However, they think no good news will be heard shortly. He also said that he believes everything they’ve done would make the travel between the UAE and the UK much safer. Griffiths hopes that the UAE will make it to the Amber list soon.
What did he have to say about vaccine passports?
The Dubai Airports CEO said the idea of vaccine passports was not discriminatory as many others may have felt. Griffiths said that the idea of a vaccine passport isn’t discriminatory, but the supply of vaccines all around the world is inequitable even though there are enough vaccines to vaccinate every single person on the planet. A solution to this issue can be made quickly.
Only 5.5 percent out of the total population has been fully vaccinated. If they can increase that percentage then more people could travel around the world. But this may take quite a while. The testing procedure they have got in places like Italy is simply an initial step. He also added that vaccine passports are in progress and that it is going to be a big push on the travel front.
