Travel Curbs Will Continue As The UAE Prioritizes Safety

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is determined to maintain the maximum number of public health standards possible as a safety response to the pandemic. The travel curbs continue, especially considering the detection of the deadly new mutant variant of the virus in several countries recently. 

The safety protocol concerning travel restrictions is revised according to the changing status of the pandemic in different countries. 

How will the GCAA contribute to managing the travel restriction rules?

In an announcement made by the authorities, they said the GCAA will put in their best efforts and will work hard with their international correspondences to develop a solution that helps passengers travel without compromising public health and safety. It would also be per the international aviation standards. 

In this regard, the GCAA is awaiting to read constructive responses from important officials in Nigeria. This comes after the conference conducted between the UAE embassy and Nigerian authorities over the past few months.

The authority established that the UAE government carries on coordinating with the Nigerian government and is keeping track of the present situation. They also said the UAE will continue with the updated measures and that its best for the safety and well-being of the citizens, residents, and visitors. The General Civil Aviation Authority responded to the comments by the Aviation Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria vis-à-vis the delay of flights to and from the UAE.

They also added that the authorities in every country have made some tough yet essential decisions to protect the health of all those in the country throughout the pandemic. To administer the travel between UAE and in some other countries, the UAE initiated special procedures over the last 12 months.

Certain features in these measures have been customized depending on the place. However, they all only had a single goal which is to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the residents and visitors. They may also limit all or indirect travel from countries with a high peak in covid patients. This list of nations will be regularly reviewed and the required modifications would be made.The final decision regarding the travel curbs is made by studying the occurrence of concerning variants, the number of passengers arriving from covid positive countries, and the integrity of domestic testing facilities.
