On Monday, 7th June, the UAE sanctioned a new protocol to reduce COVID-19 restrictions for those having the green pass. Using the contact tracing Alhosn App, the green pass will enable users to view their vaccination status and the legitimacy of their Covid PCR test.
About the app for green pass holders:
The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has permitted local and federal powers to decide how the Alhosn app is to be used. This can be according to the needs of the people and the procedures to be followed. This would create a safe and healthy atmosphere for all citizens, residents, and guests. It will lead to safe travel and tourism in the UAE.
The app uses a system of color-coding to showcase the vaccination status and validity of the PCR test of its users. The app involves six categories for vaccination which are as follows: Fully vaccinated; second dose recipients; first dose recipients waiting for a second dose appointment; or got delayed for their second dose appointment; those exempted from receiving the vaccine; and the non-vaccinated. The app’s status will become grey when the concerned PCR test is no longer valid. This applies to every category.
About the six categories:
Fully Vaccinated applies to all those who got their last dose a minimum of 28 days before, or are volunteering in vaccine trials. If their Covid test is negative, the status will be green for 30 days. It will also have the letter E or a gold star as the active icon for a whole week, that is, seven days. Those for whom the second dose has been administered less than 28 days previously make up the next category. Having a negative covid test gives them a green Alhosn status for two whole weeks.
The next category is made up of those who have just received their initial dose alone and are waiting to make an appointment for their second dose. Their PCR test status will be shown on the Alhosn status in green for a week. Residents who have been given their first dose but are late for their second dose forms the next category. This is only if they are late by 48 or more days. If possessing a negative Covid test, its validity will appear on the Alhosn status in green for three days.
Those who were exempted from being vaccinated through a vaccine exemption certificate, which they have received after the appropriate procedure, make up the next group. Their negative PCR test will be shown on the Alhosn status in green for a week. Finally, there is the category of unvaccinated people. Those who have not received the vaccine yet but do not have permission to be exempt will have the green Alhosn status for their negative PCR test result for just three days.
The app is a great way to stay up-to-date and track your Covid and vaccine-related situation. Being organized and systematic, the app is an efficient tool to remain aware of your status.
