It was announced this Tuesday that Covid 19 vaccines above 600 tons have been transported on an Emirates aircraft. This is equal to 150 million doses of the vaccine.
The Distribution And Supply Of The Vaccine:
The vaccine is distributed to more than 80 locations across 6 continents. Six kinds of vaccines have been delivered. This achievement was announced on 6th July. It was on July 6, 1885, that Louis Paster distributed the attenuated vaccine to human patients.
The Emirates Sky Cargo has played a very important role in supplying the covid 19 vaccines from production locations to different points around the world especially to the developing countries. The air cargo carrier has a devoted GDP certified to set up at the center of Dubai for dealing with pharmaceuticals.
They said that even when the covid was at its peak, the carrier transported around 200 tons of pharmaceuticals every day.
The Emirates Aircraft And Its Partners In Supplying The Vaccine:
The Emirates Sky Cargo partnered with DP World, International Humanitarian City, and Dubai Airports in January 2020 to create the Dubai Vaccine Logistics Alliance aimed at transporting the covid 19 vaccines as quickly as possible through Dubai to other developed countries. This was soon followed up with an MoU with the UNICEF in February 2020 to accelerate the transport of the covid 19 vaccines through the COVAX initiative.
There are four vaccines in the UAE against COVID-19 presently: Sino pharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sputnik V, and Oxford-AstraZeneca. So far, 15,650,988 doses have been administered, making the percentage of the population in the UAE who have been fully vaccinated 64.3 percent. Those older than 50 years and those having severe health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, etc. need to prioritize taking both the doses of the vaccine at the latest, even though it is optional.
