A great opportunity for the book lovers to mingle and exchange their thoughts with fellow bibliophiles on this October 30th. Cancel if you already have any plans and head over to the Festival Plaza Book Club meetup at Jamaica Blue. We know the regular attendees would have already scheduled their day for the meetup. So Cheers.
Festival Plaza Book Club
It is a monthly event in which like-minded bookworms gather, discuss, and dissect a book. The book to be discussed ‘Book of the Month’ would be selected by the members. A host takes the participants through the meetup, and they’ll usually have a guest every month to interact with the participants.
In this installment, Sarah Hedley Hymers would be hosting the Book Club meetup, and the book discussed would be ‘White Teeth’ by Zadie Smith.
Not one but two special guests are attending this month’s session.
- Brendon Whittington Jones, the author of ‘African Wild Dogs: On the Front Line’ and ‘The Accidental Invasion of Baghdad Zoo’ is an animal activist and wildlife lover. Grew up in South Africa, he is now working at the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority in the UAE.
- Ingrid Valles is a breast cancer survivor and she’ll speak about her cancer-defeating stories to the audience. Since October is dedicated to breast cancer awareness, Plaza Book Club is doing its part to highlight the struggles faced by the survivors.
