President HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2021 as ‘The Year 50’, in the UAE. On December 2, 2021 the nation will mark UAE’s Golden Jubilee. The nation will celebrate its milestone Golden Jubilee this year. ‘The Year 50’ officially started on April 6, 2021 and will last until March 31, 2022.
Many year-long initiatives, activities, and grand celebrations were also announced. These initiatives will be handled by the UAE Golden Jubilee Committee. The committee will fall under the chairmanship of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan will be leading as Deputy Chairwoman. The committee has members from various federal and local departments.
Series of initiatives
The celebrations will include a series of initiatives to behold the UAE’s glorious history, righteous values and several glowing achievements. These initiatives help set forth its future as the nation is heading toward its Hundred Year anniversary. Through these initiatives, the nation will remain committed to building its future. This will be done by relying on its youth as a human resource. The nation will continue to invest in the youth by equipping them with the skills necessary to forge their future.
Golden Jubilee Committee
The Golden Jubilee Committee was established in December 2019 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Alongside governing the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, the committee will be developing a comprehensive preparation plan. It will be forming organisation teams to execute the plans to mark the nation’s 50th anniversary in 2021. The Committee is working on a diverse agenda built on four strategic pillars that will cover several development initiatives. The aim is to create real changes through socioeconomic and developmental policies for generations to come.
Foundational pillars
The activities marking “The Year 50” will be organised around the following foundational pillars:
* The Year 50 will be launched with a festive spirit that will engage all those who consider the UAE as their homeland.
* All UAE nationals will be called upon to contemplate the values and achievements of the past in acknowledgement of the Founding Fathers of the UAE.
Everyday in the run up to December 2, the residents will be invited to visit national attractions, and discover hidden gems around UAE. They are also expected to learn and sing the national anthem and click photos of location that hold a meaning for them.
Governmental organisations, private firms, schools etc are there to support the Golden Jubilee project.
* The events will be focussed on inspiring the youth to prepare their vision about the ambitions of the next 50 years. The nation will be supporting them while they make quality national achievements in furtherance of The March of Development, Progress and Prosperity.
