In the middle of the success in curbing the pandemic spread, UAE government formulates plans to help boost the economy bolster its key sectors to prepare for any other challenges that may lie ahead. On Saturday, Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, presided over the second meeting of the Covid-19 Crisis Recovery Management and Governance Committee, to follow up on the recovery plan and the tasks assigned to each member of the group.
“Today we have a platform for action,” he said. This included “action at the national level for all institutions, entities and individuals on how to address the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, protect the health and safety of society, and start working proactively in preparation for the recovery phase.”
The action plan spans various sectors, highlights future opportunities and ways to strengthen the UAE’s position of leadership when it comes to tackling the repercussions of the virus. Dr Al Jaber said the UAE had succeeded in mitigating the affects of Covid-19 be taking a proactive approach to measures.
He said work was under way to outline strategic and detailed indicators for vital sectors, including security, health, education, food security and the economy, to measure progress throughout the recovery phase.
The committee’s next job is to develop programmes, initiatives and strategies to achieve these indicators and meet measurable targets, he said. The next phase will include the development of programmes to ensure recovery, response and return of activities.
On Saturday, the committee also reviewed a media plan that seeks to unify messages and highlight the work being done to ensure the country’s continued growth. This aims to enhance the community’s confidence in the state’s efforts and encourage optimism and positivity in facing challenges, reported state news agency Wam.
Dr Al Jaber said the committee was progressing in its work and stressed the importance of solidarity and co-operation at this important time in the recovery phase.
The National Covid-19 Crisis Recovery Management and Governance Committee was formed by the Supreme Committee for Covid-19 Crisis Management and will be chaired by Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology. Its members include government officials that represent a variety of ministries and federal departments. The inception of this Committee is for developing support programmes for businesses and industries to aid in the country’s efficient financial recovery.
