Covid Vaccination Drive Of Pfizer-BioNtech Approved By UAE Ministry For 5 To 11 Years Age Group

The decision to vaccinate the kids from the age group of 5 years to 11 years came after a rigorous drive to vaccinate kids and ensure more immunity amidst the society. This drive has been approved by the US Food and Drug administration.

The UAE’s Ministry Of Health And Prevention (MoHAP) has authorized an emergency drive for vaccinating children of 5 to 11 years of age with immediate usage of Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine. This has been responded to due to immediate assessment on the basis of clinical studies. This is followed by emergency authorization which is approved with regulations. The approvals have also been followed by the US Food and Drug Administration.

How Did The Ministry Get Approval?

The ministry has also confirmed that the use of vaccines on kids has been indicated to be safe and proved to ensure stronger immunity systems for children at the age of this age group. The approval also came from the tests of Pfizer that released 90.7 percent effectiveness preventing COVID-19 in children. These vaccines would also outweigh rare cardiac side effects in kids of this age group.

This adoption prevents children of this age group by enhancing their immunity system. 

In May 2021, MoHAP had confirmed the usage of Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine for kids of 12 to 15 years of age.

Later in June, MoHAP confirmed the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine for 3 to 17 years of age. After this, Middle East became the first ever country to provide safe vaccines for this age group. This was later proceeded in August.

Dr. Hussein Abdel Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector gave a statement that this decision has come out from the wise ministry and as a response to communal safety.

The MoHAP administration is also planning to conduct a drive of booster doses of Pfizer-BioNtech and Sputnik vaccines for the age group of 18 to 59 years of age.

This is the first time that the US administration has passed a drive for kids of 5 to 11 years age group.
